What Pro adds
Four things, and they are the same four whether you buy it today or in a year. Nothing here is metered, and nothing is a credit that runs down.
The whole effect rack
Reverb with its six rooms, the five-band EQ and its Bass curve, wide stereo, distortion, bitcrusher, flanger, grain delay and the beat-locked chop. This is the largest single difference between the two tiers: on the free player the rack is visible but switched off, and tempo and pitch do all the work.
The rack is also what gets rendered into an export, so buying it changes the files that come out, not only what you hear while you listen.
Every theme and every visualizer
The whole catalogue, including anything added in a later update, with no second payment for the additions. Two themes and a set of visualizers are free permanently, so the app is a complete thing without this — Pro turns a choice of two into a choice of everything.
Full-length audio export
A free audio export writes the song’s first 30 seconds, measured from the start of the track wherever your trim sits. Pro writes the whole song and honours the trim, so an export starts and ends exactly where you put the markers. Audio is never watermarked on either tier — the free limit is length, never a tone over the music.
Video with nothing on it
Free video export is already full length at 1080p; it carries a small “Made with Y2K Player” mark that fades between the corners. Pro removes the mark. The length was never the thing being sold.

Two things worth reading twice. Video export is full length on the free tier — the free limitation is a mark, not a clip. And audio export is never watermarked on either tier, because a tone laid over somebody’s music makes the file worthless.
Why it is a one-time purchase
A music subscription is a bill that arrives every month for as long as you keep it. This one arrives once.
The reasoning is not charity, it is honesty about what the app is. There are no servers here, no catalogue being licensed, no bandwidth being paid for and no account being kept alive. Nothing about running Y2K Player costs money every month, so charging every month would be charging for nothing.
It also means the promise is checkable. An app that renews can quietly become worse and still take the payment. An app you bought once can only ask you for money again by shipping something new, which is the correct incentive.
There is also a monthly plan for people who would rather not pay up front. The one-time purchase is the better deal by a wide margin and it is the one this page is about; the monthly exists so that paying nothing up front is still an option rather than a wall.
The rack, one control at a time
It is the largest of the four differences, so it is worth knowing what is actually in it rather than reading the word “effects” and guessing.

Two properties matter more than the list. Every one of them is heard while the song is playing — drag a control and the sound moves under your finger, with nothing to render first. And every one is stored per song, so a track you set up months ago still sounds that way when you open it, without being set up again.
They are also all rendered into exports, which is the part that turns the rack from a listening toy into a tool. What you heard is what the file contains.
Where the purchase goes
It is an App Store purchase attached to your Apple Account, so it is already on the other devices signed into the same account — iPhone, iPad, and Macs with Apple silicon. There is nothing to log into here and no licence key to keep.
If you reinstall or move to a new phone, Restore purchases in Settings brings it back. That is a request to Apple, not to me; I never see your payment details and there is no customer record on my side to look you up in. Refunds go through Apple as well, because Apple took the payment.

- The free player is not a trial. It does not expire, degrade or start nagging. Never buying Pro is a supported way to use this app.
- Pro is a one-time purchase and does not renew. A monthly plan exists for people who prefer it; owning it outright costs less than a few months of the other one.
- The three-day window covers themes and visualizers, not the effect rack. The rack is Pro from the moment you install.
- No ads on either tier, no account on either tier, no data collected on either tier.
- It does not add songs. Y2K Player plays files you already own. Pro changes what you can do to them, not what you have.

Is Pro a subscription?
The purchase this page is about is a one-time payment that never renews. There is also a monthly plan for people who would rather not pay up front — it is the same app either way, and buying it outright is the cheaper route by a wide margin.
What does the free player leave out?
The effect rack, most of the theme and visualizer catalogue, full-length audio export, and an unmarked video. Everything else — your whole library, live tempo and pitch, the presets, the waveform tools, full-length video export — is free and stays free.
Do I lose anything if I never buy it?
Nothing. The free player does not expire, degrade or begin nagging. It plays your library exactly as it did the day you installed it.
Is the effect rack included in the three-day window?
No. The window covers themes and visualizers. Reverb, EQ and the rest of the rack are Pro from the start, and a rack dialled in during the window is not rendered into an export.
Does Pro work on my iPad and my Mac too?
Yes. It is attached to your Apple Account, so any device signed into that account has it — iPhone, iPad, and Macs with Apple silicon.
How do I restore it after a reinstall?
Restore purchases in Settings. That asks Apple what you own; there is no account here and no licence key to keep.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds go through Apple rather than through me, because Apple took the payment. Apple's own refund request page is the route, and it is the same one for every app on the store.
Do I pay again for themes added later?
No. Pro includes the catalogue as it grows, including themes and visualizers that arrive in later updates.
Are there ads on the free tier?
No. There are no ads on either tier and there never will be while this page says so.
Does buying Pro send you my data?
No. The purchase happens inside Apple's payment sheet. I never see your name, your card or your address, and there is no customer record on my side. The privacy page covers the rest.
Is the video watermark on the audio too?
Never. Audio exports carry no mark on any tier. The free limitation on audio is length — the song's first 30 seconds — and the mark only ever appears on video.
What is the price?
It is shown in your own currency on the Pro screen inside the app, before you commit to anything, and the App Store listing shows it too. Prices differ by country, so the app is the honest place to read it.
